Alan Davies (Chair of Finance Committee)

Alan has acted as a trustee and treasurer since shortly after the formation of Mirus, having been head-hunted as an accountant.

He was born in Canton and attended Canton High School, qualifying later as an accountant in 1954. There followed a period of two years National Service in the Welch Regiment  before eventually taking up self employment as a practising accountant in 1960, with offices in Caerphilly and Cardiff.

Also in 1960 Alan married Elizabeth and in 1963 Matthew was born with Cerebral Palsy. Matthew attended TY Gwyn Special School and later lived under the care of Scope in Cheshire. He returned to Cardiff in 2008 and now lives supported by OHT within walking distance of their family home in Whitchurch.

Alan continued as a practising accountant until 1999 and now devotes his time to supporting Elizabeth and their family and keeping abreast of current affairs.

He tries to keep fit by walking swimming and gardening and by supporting his old club Penarth RFC.

There has been a huge change in the fortunes of Mirus over the past thirty years or so, from the time when the records consisted of a hand written cash book to the present complicated structure. Alan hopes to continue to make a contribution to meeting the difficult challenges which lie ahead.
